Mr Chamberlain, speaking at a banquet at the Hotel Cecil, to celebrate Dominion Day, said that the world had never seen anything more striking than the devotion and spontaneous eagerness of the brothers across tho sea in responding to the -Empire’s needs. A movement for closer connection was progressing, but would be fatal if pressed unduly. Still, if the colonies desired to assist with their Coun'sel and advice as well as with arms, there would be nothing that tho British would more readily welcome. '
