The Acclimatisation Society is inviting expressions of public opinion as to the desirability or otherwise of liberating large animals in this district. We think that a prompt and decisive answer can at once be given. Settlers have quite enough troubles to contend with now without being desirous of more. The experience of the Waikato in regard to doer should bo a suthcient warning for any other pastoral and agricultural district. There can bo no objection to the liberating of deer, etc., in the Waikaremoana ranges, but thero should bo a very strong objection to the liberating of animals near property that is being made use of for farmers, stock-. Thero need be no second thoughts about the matter. It is not in the interests of agriculturists or pastoralists to have foreign animals brought into the district, and that should settle the question.
