WELLINGTON NEWS.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, Saturday. The general manager of the National , Bank of New Zealand has received cable advice that the annual report for March. 1901, had been published in London, and will be presented to the shareholders at a meeting in London on July 9th. The directors recommend that a dividend of S per cent bo declared, with a bonus of 2 per cent, making the dividend 10 per cent for the year ; that £:i(),000 be transferred to the reserve fund, which will then stand ;it XI 10,000, and that jjXHJjOO be carried forward to the current year. The sum of ■CdGOO has been applied in reduction of I hank promises, and j£d,6oo granted as j bonus to the officers’ pension fund. Mr A. M. Heaton, Chief Clerk in the Railway Stores Department, died suddenly last night. The Teachers’ Salaries Commission has appointed Messrs Davidson, Hill, Weston, Gilfcdder, Hogg, and Stewart to draw up its report.
The Department of Agriculture has bought 08 prize fowls at the Christchurch Poultry Show, some of which will be kept at Momohaki and some at Auckland. The poultry - breeding station on the island of Motuhihi, Auckland, is to be removed to the new experimental farm near Hamilton.
