County Council meet this morning, and the Whataupoko Road Board this afternoon.
The Mohawk Minstrels gave a mosl successful entertainment at Ormond iasi evening,
Mr E. Reynolds, the well-known Audita id cycling manufacturer, is at present visiting Gisborne.
The programme of ttav'concert to be held at Patutahi on Wednesday evening next, appears in this issue. Messrs Harold Lysnar, H. E. Tillon, Walter Muir, H. Lockie, and H. Turnbull have been elected members of, the Waipaoa Road Board.
At the meeting of the Harbor Board yesterday, it was resolved to have thirty loads of gravel put on the road leading to the Kaiti beach.
A unique specimen of a fish was presented to the museum „ yesterday by Mr F. Parker. It is a frog fish, -the peculiarity of which is that it has legs and has a spike' from above the eyes. The fish was caught by Maoris, and seeing that it was a curiosity Mr Parker purchased it. Sergeant Boore, of the East Coast Mounted Rifles, received word from Waerenga-o-kuri last . evening, that Quartonnastcr-Sergeant Evans and party had arrived at that place, and would roach hero at noon to-day. They had a very rough trip overland from Napier, and lost one horse on the road, besides leaving another tame at Murumuru. A Press Association message state: “ The corner section opposite the Masonic Hotel, Gisborne, has changed hands at a price very close to £9O per foot. The property has a frontal of 66 feet to Gladstone road. Mr F. W. Robjohns, of Napier, was the vendor, and Mr W. Good the purchaser.
At the meeting of the Harbor Board yesterday, Mr Macfartaue referred to the correspondence that had been appearing in the Times in regard to valuation in the Borough. He suggested that when going into tho matter of finances the Committee of the-Boat d should also look into that matter. Mr Hepburn : More taxation. Mark Way’s Royal Gelebration sale commences this morning, and will bo con, tinued during next week. The premises were closed yesterday, when marking down of the stock was completed. Reductions of a startling nature in the prices of all winter goods have been made. Ladies and ehiktren’s hats, macintoshes, silkhankerchiefs, lace, curtains, and dress materials of all kinds are shown in endless variety, and will be disposed of at under cost price.
At the fortnightly meeting' of Turanganui Lodge, No. 7, U.A.0.D., last evening, $, considerable amount of routine business was and the officers elected at the half-yearly moating were installed in their various offices by the District President, Bro. J. Nutting, who carried out the installation ceremony in a very impressive manner. Two new members were initiated and five proposed. The arrangements for the annual social on Tuesday, July §th, were reported Jo be in a forward state, and given a fjne uigbt the gathering promises to bo a record one.
Discussion took place at the Harbor Board yesterday afternoon as to charges made for storage by the lightering linn. It was explained during the discussion Chat Messrs Kennedy and Evans had to take responsibility for goods left on ha'd and that if the Board took up this duty it would mean employing , a .man for the special purpose, though most of the goods were taken away without delay. The Board' 'considered ijt better to let well alone! The'Chairman said that at Napier the goods were taken" charge' of by : the ] Board, and "he had had 10-'pay Ss'on a | package.
Hr J. H. Bull is staying in Napier for a few days. During his trip he lost his portmanteau.

Late cables state: Sixty-seven Unionist members have petitioned to have the Deceased Wife's Sister Bill brought before a Grand Committee. Dunfernline bowlers beat the New Zealanders by 48 to 37. The Peninsular and Orient Company are to give effect to the judgment in regard to Lascars as soon as possible. At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday Mr W. A. Barton, S.M., presided. In the following cases judgment was given for the plaintiff, with costs McDonald and Co. v. Patrick Mooney, claim £6 6s, and costs £4 3s; D. M. Orr v. E. Ridsdale, claim £l2 5s 5d and costs 15s ; Common, Shelton and Co. v. A. T. Hardy, claim £64 14s 3d and costs £4 2s 6d ; S. S. Springhall v. Rawiri Karaha, claim. £'2 15s and costs os; J. R. C. Parker v. W. Searle, claim 17s 6d; Wm. Adams v. Hare Komenga, claim £54 14s ; judgment was given for the plaintiff for £45 and costs £6 6s. James Whinray v. George Searle, claim £l7 6s lOd ; judgment was for the plaintiff for £l4 14s lOd and costs.£l 10s 6d.
