CONFERENCE WITH MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT. THE CANAL. By Tolograph.—Press Association. Auckland, last night. A meeting of the Chamber of Commerce and tho Auckland members of Parliament, prior to tho opening of tho session, took place to-day. Ihc question of land soUloment in tho Auckland province, railway extension, and tho San Francisco service wore discussed ; also tho question of placing tho Mauukau Harbor under tho Auckland Harbor Board, as a preliminary to the construction of an Auckland-Manukaii canal. On theso matters thovo was a general agreement. An amendment in tho Arbitration Act limiting the powers of tho Court as to the production of employers’ books, and amendments in the Workmen's Compensation Act wovo also suggested. No resolutions wore proposed.
