SCANDALOUS AND SHOCKING STATEMENT. POOR SHOTS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Juno 20. Mr Balfour, addressing tho Conservative agents at tho Holborno Restaurant, said that Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman’s assertion that tho war was conducted in a barbarous mannor was a scandalous and shocking statement, sinco none had over boon conducted with oqual humanity. General Sir Redvcrs Buller declares that tho campaign showed a want of accuracy of British riflo fire at short ranges, allowing tho foe to oscapo with insufficient punishment after positions had been gained. At tho meoting held outsido tho Qucon’s Hall.a resolution was passod condemning tho pro-Boer campaign; it was enthusiastically resolvod to support tho Government.
