Timaru, last night.
The Borough Council last night resolved to submit to the ratepayers proposals to borrow £4OOO for abattoirs, £IO,OOO for surface drainage extension, £6OOO for waterworks extension, £SOOO to pay off the overdraft, £3OOO for purchase of a recreation ground for North Timaru, £IOOO for road-roller and stone crusher, £15,000 to purchase' gasworks or electric lighting; total, £54,000. The proposals were not much discussed.
