VICTORIANS KILLED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, June 15. Lieutenant Murphy, Corporal Robertson, and Privates Lcwons and White have ' been killed. Sergeant Miller has been dangerously wounded. Private Sharps lias been soverely wounded. Tho casualties occurred at Ehcuoster Kop on tho fifth. All the men bolong to tho Victorian Mounted Rifles. Lieutenant Matthews, of tho samo corps, was dangerously wounded on tho head whilo bathing. MRS BOTHA INTERVIEWS KRUGER, By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Brussels, May 15. Lord Hopotoun has received a despatch through tho Imperial Secretary of War wherein Lord Roberts conveys to tho Governor-General his high npprociution of tho work of the commanders and staffs of the various Australian colonics in organising and despatching over 15,000 troops to South Africa. Ho adds that tho “ promptitudo with which contingents wore rendered available, and tho way in which • they wore equipped reflects much credit on all concerned, and in my opinion is deserving of acknowledgment ns well as the gallant conduct of the Australian troops.” STILL MORE PRAISE.
The Field Secretary for War, in a letter accompanying tho despatch containing Lord Roberts’ messages, says that the Imperial Government fully concur in Lord Roberts’ appreciation of tho spirit shown and tho admirable work dono by their follow-subjects in Australia. The Hon. E. Barton has forwarded the despatch to tho Premiers of tho various States.

A SEVERE ENGAGEMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Juno 16. Lord Kitchener reports that during tho march from Yrcdc, Elliott ongugod Dc Wet near Reitz on tho 6tli. Severe fighting ensued. Bladen’s mounted won displayed great gallantry. Soventy-ono loaded waggons wore captured, also 45 prisoners, 58 rifles, 10,000 rounds of small-arm ammunition, and 4000 cattle. Tho Boers left 17 killed and threo wounded. The British had threo officers and 17 killed, and one olliecr and 24 woundpd. Elliott has reached Kroonstadt.
