F. J. Trotfc, a younger brother of Harry and A. E. Trott, made his first public appearance in England on Monday at the Essex county ground (says an English paper of April). Like his brothers, he has an easy style, and tho ball in his hands is lively. His pace is medium on the avorage, and his length seems to be good. Tho employment of prisoners in tree, planting is an idea which the Premier last session highly commended. In view of this fact it is interesting to note that at the monthly meeting of the Wellington Women's Social and Political League discussion on the benefits of prison labor took place. The following resolution was carried: “ That the League congratulates the Government on the success that has attended the experiment of using prison labor for beautifying Rotorua by tree planting, and as the system has proved successful, further employment should be given to prisoners at road-making in the back blocks for the benefit of bush settlers."
