MESSRS W. J. RANGER AND CO.
AGENTS AND CYCLE MANU FACTURERS.
Messrs W. J. Banger and Co., cycle manufacturers and agents for machinery, have several lines in stock which are deserving of more than passing notico. The first of those is tho Davis vertical feed sowing machine, a shipment of which has recently been received by the firm from America. The chief advantages of this machine over other machines on the market are that it possesses a vertical feed, has ball-bearings, and is without cogwheels. Tho machine has a drop-top, which enables the table, after the machine has disappeared, to be used as a writingdesk, or for other purposes. Its convertibility is one of its principal features. It is perfectly dust-proof, is easily worked, and generally possesses a very ornamental appearance. Some of the wood used in the manufacture of the table portion of the machine is very similar to the New Zealand rewarewa. The machine also possesses an 18-inch rule, which is laid in the bed of the table. Altogether the machine is a very fine specimen of its kind, and should meet with a ready sale. Tho capabilities of the machine are wonderful, and leather can be sewn as easily as tho lighter materials. Splendid provision is made for drawers, and there is every other convenience about the machine that one could wish for. It is undoubtedly a very handsome piece of machinery, and every housewife in search of a good sewing machine should see the firm’s stock. The ordinary Davis hand machines are shown in great variety. There is also on view a new chainless bicycle, manufactured by the Waltham Watch Company, of America, and known as the Orient Chainless Bicycle. It is claimed for this machine that it is the best of its kind in the market, and from its poculiar construction is specially adapted for hill climbing. The studs are very strong, and the workings of tho machine arc encased in an aluminium cover, and are therefore rendered perfectly dust-proof. It is fittod with Dunlop tyres and English Westwood rims. It is a very pretty model, and should find considerable favor amongst cyclists. The bicycle has much to commend it on account of its strength and lightness,' and it is certainly the oasiest running machine that we have 3een in Gisborne. The Dayton bicycle is also stocked by Messrs Ranger and Go. These machines are so well known in this district that it is unnecessary for us to refer at any length to them. Dozens of them are to be seen daily in the streets, and the owners express themselves delighted with them. The firm carry a large stock of cycling requisites in the way of lamps, hells, saddles, etc., and have splendid facilities for executing repairs, all up-to-date appliances being used. As agents for Messrs Booth and MacDonald's Carlyle Implement Works, Messrs Ranger and Co. are in a position to supply ploughs, disc and tyned harrows, and other requisites, whilst their celebrated Star windmills are held in great favor by settlers x throughout the district. Another interesting line is tho high grade folding vapor bath cabinet, by the" use of which it is claimed you can get and keep good health without medicine. It is recommended by many of the leading colonial medical men, and tho price at which it can bo obtained places it within the reach of all. The firm invite inspection of tho articles mentioned, and a very pleasant half hour can be spent in a visit to the shape and work-rooms in Gladstone Road.
