A constable was conveying a prisoner to Albury, and when the train stopped at a station at midnight, on tho cxcuso of going to tho lavatory, tho prisoner jumped off. The constable fired two shots, but tho man escaped. Next morning ho was arrested fifteen miles from the scene of tho escape, with a flesh wound in the leg, tho result of tho constable’s shots, and his hands wore also terribly bruised causod by dragging off tho handcuffs.
