CAPTURING PRISONERS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Juno 13. Colonel Pultcney captured 26 Boers on tho Swaziland border, including Schalkburghor’s brother. Colonel Scobcll at dawn on the 6th surprised Lottor’s and Kruitzingcr’s commandos, numbering 400, laagerod in a valley at Kingscrown, preparing to attack Barkley East. Tho Boers’ pickots on tho hill gave warning. Colonel Scobell sent a squadron of Capo Mounted Rifles, under Captain Lukin, to reconnoitre, tho main column descending tho hills in tho darknoss. Captain Lukin, shouting “ Hands up,” charged with a squadron. Tho enemy bolted, leaving their sparo horses and 18,000 rounds of ammunition. Fifteen prisoners woro taken, and a gun at sunrise completed tho rout.
Tho Boors returned to tho Senokal and Lydcnburg districts immediately Gonoral Sir Bindon Blood withdrew his troops. Borlin, Juno 13.
Tho pross is furious at tho Transvaal Concessions Commission’s report because it upsots recent speculations in connection with tho Nothorlands railway. STRENGTH OF BOERS. BALFOUR ESTIMATES THEM AT 17,000. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Juno 14. In the House of Commons, Mr Balfour, replying to Sir H. A. Banncrman, said that tho Boers woro scattered over tho Orango Rivor, Transvaal, and small portions of Capo Colony, in commandos of a hundred and two hundred, tho largestmentioned being six hundred strong. Ho estimated tho total Boers in tho field to be seventeen thousand. Rumors regarding poaco negotiations woro, ho said, basoless.
