PERSONAL.

Mr W. A. Barton, S.M., left for the Coast yesterday morning. Sergeant Evans and party reached Napier at 11 o’clock yosterday morning, all well. Mr and Mrs McCluro left for Christchurch last night for tho Ducal celebrations.

The Mayor of Auckland (Dr J. L. Campbell) has presented to the people of that city his One-troo Hill Estate, situated in the Remuera district.

Mr Marshall, of Matawhero, and tho school cadets, leave for Christchurch next week. The cadets should be equal to tho best to be seen in tho Cathedral city.

His Worship the Mayor (Mr Townley) wes to have left for the South last night, but was not able conveniently to get away, and will go by the small steamor to-morrow evening. At the ceremony of unfurling the flag at the Gisborne school on Tuesday, Capt. Thomson, Harbormaster, took a leading part in the arrangements, and the unfurling of the flag was performed by Miss Matthews under his direction. Mr James Macfarlane, Chairman of the County Council, leaves for Tolago Bay today. He will be presont at the meeting to be held at that place on Saturday evening, when the question of the Uawa bridge will be considered. We understand that it is Mr Macfarlane’s intention at the meeting on Saturday to refer to a number of other matters of vital importance to tho County.
