A proclamation dissolving Parliament was issued to-day. _ The result of the reduction in the excise duties on tobacco yesterday was a record in the Custom Houso. Over .£56,000 was paid on tobacco. Heavy payments of Customs also continue, in anticipation of the Federal Parliament raising both the Customs and excise duty at an early date. In connection with the arrival of the oil steamer Tarbo, works have been erected at a cost of 1230,000 to deal with oil injbulk. At a gathering of representative business men an announcement was made that New Zealand intends for the present to be supplied with oil from Sydney.
