THE HUNT.
Ode Whatatutu correspondent forwards the following account of the hunt, supplementing what appearing yesterday The hounds threw off about noon on Mr W. Devery’s fine course. The weather was wretched. Mr falter Hutchinson, on the famous Baldie, acted as Master, and it-would be hard to beat him in that line, as he went straight to the front, and made the pace a hummer, flying every fence. Miss Mary Tait, on Bushwhacker, along with Mr E. Tait, on Success, did excellent work in laying the drag. Miss Tait'a horse jumped in splendid style throughout, and was ably ridden. Mr J. Malone, on Hippogriff, proved the right man in the right place, the hounds going fast and well, reflecting credit on the popular Huntsman. Mr A. Devery, on Colonel, and Master Willie Dovery, on The Kumi, acted as whips, and did good work, their horses jumping in splendid style. Amongst. those “foremost in the hunt were: Mr S. Sydney on Glencoe, Mr E. F. Devery on Miss Strowan, Mr J. Kelly on Surmise, Mr J. Devery on Flirtation, Mr S. Buru on a bay gelding. All jumped in good style. Mr E. Devery had a couple of nasty spills at the big double, and Miss M. Tait at a fence further on, but no harm resulted. Among thosfi present were Mrs Win. Devery. on an iron grey, Miss B. Tait on a good horse, Miss Devery ou Pain Killer, Mr Patullo on a fine brown gelding, Mr Win, Devery on a brown, Mr Swinnerton on a good-looking brown gelding.
