Sydney, June 10. Cardinal Moran, in the name of tho Catholic Hierarchy of Australia, has forwarded Mr Barton a protest against the studied insult to the Catholic subjects of the Empire contained in tho coronation oath, both on religious ground and as an infringement of the religious equality to which the Catholics arc entitled under the constitution of the Commonwealth. Mr Barton replied that the protest would be transmitted to Mr Chamberlain, and ho added that the: Federal Ministers sympathised with the proposed revision of the language of the oath. ■ ; The conference of ironwork strikers proved abortive.
