TRAINING NOTES.

Excellent work was done this morning,
Cannongate trotted once round, and galloped two more miles in great style. Derringcotte and Beddington did a strong six furlongs. St. Ursula easily defeated St. Peter over a circuit. Hastings did a fast six furlongs. Verdi and Twinam did a strong once round with Sundial and Peer, and then with Fashion over a mile. Employer and Stepniak did five furlongs, Rosella a mile, Cavaliero steady pacing, also medium work. Yesterday afternoon La Gloria and Formula did a strong mile, and Balbirnie a fast seven furlongs. Regalia and Bacchus had two circuits, Regalia going well. Mokomoko jumped the hurdles well. Puffing Billy and also I Motor led Karpira well over six furlongs. Cceur do Lion and Moifaa galloped a mile and five furlongs, both going well. Sudden and Princess of Thule registered a sound mile. Rufus finished in front of Admiral Hawke and Tim after a capital mile and a-half. Haeta assisted in the last circuit. Nor’-west and Plain Jack did useful work ; also Dingo, Swiftfoot, and Blackberry, with medium pacing. Forty-seven broke his hind leg galloping on the flat with Rolf. Honesty and Regulus did strong work. Kaimato, Riot, and Romantic did a strong mile. Tho-Needle and Mars did a solid mile. Kohai jumped the country twico well. Plain Bill ran a circuit on the plough, and then jumped the bank and double stone-wall twice, and took anothor barrier vory fairly, also did a steady walk yesterday afternoon. This morning, while doing steady work on the grass track at Ellerslie, the hurdle gelding Forty-seven broke his off hind log abovo the hock, and had to be destroyed. Trooper Watkins, who is in South Africa with tho Fifth Contingent, is the owner of Forty-soven.
LATEST BETTING,
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. Thero is little change in the betting ovor the Groat Northern Steeplechase and Grand National Hurdle. In the doublo to-day Bufus, coupled with Cannongate, come in for a little support, 700 to 21 boing taken.
