THE ROYAL VISIT.
BOUND FOR NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, June 6. The Royalties embarked on the Ophir on route to New Zealand at 11.80 this morning. Three thousand troops lined the route from Government House, through the Domain main avonue to the embarking pavilion at Farm Cove, which was tastefully re-decorated for the occasion with fiowors, greenery, etc. • - Their Boyal Highnesses wero given an enthusiastic send-off, crowds flanking tho line of procossion, and being massed in the Domain, and on the foreshores. Lord Hopotoun and the inombors of the Ministry and tho Mayor officially farowelled tho Duko and Duchess at the pavilion. The forts and warships, tho latter being gaily decorated with bunting, fired Royal salutes as their Royal Highnesses stepped aboard the pinnace and wero conveyod to the Royal yacht.

When the Duko and Duchoss stopped on tho pavilion at tho landing stago, tho captain of tho Russian cruiser Gromobi, with much ceremony, presented tho Duchess with a loaf of Russian rye bread with salt. Tho loaf was on a salvor, with a silver salt-collar lot into the top of tho loaf. The Duke presented tho Premier with autograph photos, and tho InspectorGeneral of Police with a silver smokors’ companion.
PREPARATIONS IN THE NORTH.

It is understood to bo tho intention of tho Commandant that tho volunteer forces shall rohoarso on Monday tho procession to bo carried out on arrival of tho Royal visitors. Thoro will bo quito a number of mounted mon as an escort to tho Royal carriage, one divis'on boing in advanco and the othor at the roar. Tho procession will bo Bovoral hundred yards hi extent.
Tho cadets and public schools will parade to-morrow afternoon. On Tuesday it is proposed to stop all traffic on tho lino of route botwoon 11 and 3. The streets will bo ropod by tho Public Works Department. In the evening vehicular traffic will bo stopped in Qncon street to cnablo tho public to seo the illuminations without risk.
Tho Harbor Board arch on tho wharf is well in hand, and consists of threo spans with four square towers. The Municipal arch will bo covered with greonory, and promises td bo most nrtistio.
Tho officers of tho warships are very complimentary about the Harbor Board arch, and say it is the most appropriate they have seen in tho colonies. Tho casket for presentation to tho Duchess from the womon of the province of Auckland will bo of a unique character, consisting of polishod greenstone mounted with bandß of solid gold, legs of gold, and a crozier in the shape of interlaced ferns. In the centre of tho front panel is a punga \ fern of puro gold, and at each corner of tho panels is a rose in gold. Tho casket is onolosed in a folding caso, covered with purple leather clasps, with a gold monogram surmounted by a Ducal crown in gold. A military gymkhana will bo held on June 11th in Potter’s Paddock, in whioh betweon 500 and 600 mounted men will take part. The Stav’s Rotorua spocial wires that' about 2000 natives are encamped in a huge canvas town on the racecourse. There is a street a chain wide down tho centre. Sido streets are named after tho triboa represented. Thoro aro vast ltopa Maoris, dozens upon dozens of boilers, and huge tanks for preparing food. The arches at Rotorua are almost complete. The Government arch, representing the Imperial Crown, is very handsome, and is far ahead of any of tho Auckland arches.
