THE MEE I AT KARAUA.

Thk weekly meet of the Poverty Bay Hunt Club took place at Havana |Te Arai) yesterday, and proved a most enjoyable outing. The weather was gloriously fine, tho going was good, the fences were fairly stiff, and all other conditions were in keeping for a capital day's sport. Mr J. A. Harding, deputy master, was in charge, and mounted on Mr H. Tucker’s horse Topthorn made the pace fairly lively from the jump. Amongst those present were : —Mrs Colin Dunlop on Sailor. Miss Sherratt on Schnapps, Miss Reynolds on Haerc, Mr ,T. Malone on Czar. Mr W. Hutchinson on Baldy, Mr

W. Jobson on Ballinger, Mr Devery on Tho Colonel, Mr G. Jones on Flirt, Mr T. Sherratt on Waterfall, Mr C. Humphreys on a bay, Mr C. Dunlop on an iron-grey by Mazeppa, Mr Hennessy on Lieutenant, Mr Sergeant on a bay, Mr D. Evans on Etta, Mr H. Cooper on Rangi, Mr J. M. Gouldsinith on Fencor, Mr P. Malone on Pirate. Messrs 0. Evans and J. Macintosh, who acted as whips, were mounted on Kaitoa and Hippogriff respectively. There was a considerable number of onlookers on wheel and on horseback. The hounds threw off on the Karaua side of Pakirikiri at half-past eleven. The first few jumps were pretty stiff, but were safely negotiated by all those taking part. The course was through Mr Walls’ paddock, past the wharc, then back across the road, thence along the frontage of the main road for half-a-mile, and on to the sandhills. After a short interval tho deputy-Master decided to lay the drags back again to the starting point. There was only one spill during the run, Mr Devery on Colonel coming to grief, but no harm resultod. Members and visitors were most hospitably entertained by Mr and Mrs Wall, of \V aorenga-o-kuri, who drove over during the morning with a goodly supply of eatables, which, needless' to say, iYere
