Yesterday His Worship the Mayor telegraphed to Mr Mestayer, the engineer for the proposed water supply for Gisborne, asking when the report on the scheme might be expected. , Mr Mestayer replied by a telegram received last night : “ Report on water supply will be sent by next mail. Am recommending Waihi-

rere. - Mestayer.” The other source which Mr Mestayer had under consideration was that ' of Mangarueka, which would bo a more expensive scheme.
