WATER AND DRANIABE
The report of Mr Mostavor, on the subject of drainage, was presented to the Borough Council last night. Cr Bright moved, and the Mayor seconded. that the consideration of the report bo deferred until the report on a water supply schema had'becn obtained. f Cr Lysnar urged that further information be obtained, particularly in regard to the inclusion of Kaiti and Whataupoko.' Another point on which there was no information was the annual cost of working ; there were to bo four pumpiug stations. They should deal with the report as far as they could, for if they got mixing up the two things they would be getting very much mixed themselves.
Cr Whinray : The report is not on the suburbs at all. Ho was not instructed to report on that. Cr Lysnar considered that it was necessary to have such information. Cr Kennedy supported the motion, and said that they should not discuss drainage until they had tho water supply scheme before them.
The Mayor said that Mr Mestayer had not been asked to report on the suburbs, and he would not be able to give information in that direction. Cr Harding, while supporting tho motion, agreed with Cr Lysnar as to obtaining an estimate of the annual cost. Cr Jones said he was not altogether satisfied with the report, and wanted time to consider it carefully, especially in regard to the suggestion that the drainage should be run into the Turuheru river and Waikanae stream.
Cr Lysnar said if it was thought that the outside boards should move first it would be prudent to leave the report stand over until the suburbs had time to take tbe matter up, The motion to postpone the discussion was tben carried,
