THE MAIL STEAMER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. The R.M.S. Ventura arrived from Sydney yesterday morning, and left again at 3.30 p.m. for San Francisco, with the outward mail. A WARSHIP. The United States warship Brooklyn arrived from Melbourne yesterday. The vessel remains in Auckland till Saturday next ; then she proceeds to AVellington, and thence to Sydney.

THE EX-JUDGE. [Special to Times.] Auckland, last night. Ex-Judge Martin made an appearance at the Supreme Court during the week. In the ensuing week the late Judge defends a foreigner at Court. FOOTBALL. In the senior football cup matches the City beat the Suburbs ; Grafton was victorious against North Shore ; Ponsouby suffered defeat at the hands of Parnell. Galloway, for Ponsonby, broke his leg.
