THE COURT’S DIRECTION ASKED FOB AND REFUSED. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. _ The case of Edward Pierard, who is charged with indecent assault on a girl under sixteen, and in whose case three juries have failed to agree, was mentioned to Mr Justice Edwards to-day by the Crown Prosecutor,' who asked for the direction of the Court as to what should be done.

His Honor said that matters of tho kind should not be thrown upon the Court. The Crown should make a definite application. If a new trial wero applied for he would grant it. Counsel for prisoner objected to this, but the matter was eventually allowed to stand over till to-morrow, to allow tho Crown officers to consider tho matter.
