SYDNEY RED TAPE.

By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright Sydney, May 21. Complaints as to the surcharging of -letters continue. The Deputy-Post-master-General states that the correct amount of postage for letters from New Zealand to Australia is twopence. This Department was advised by the.. New Zealand Post Office in February last that instructions would be given to its officers to see that all letters posted in that country to places in Australia were prepaid prior to their despatch. As, however, such action was not taken in respect to some letters, a surcharge was imposed. Regarding the statement that it was understood that the New Zealand Department would pay any deficiency in postage on New Zealaud letters for Australia, no official intimation to that effect had been received by the Department.
