Rockingham's pictorial exhibition and illustrated concert should attract a large audience at the Theatre Boyal to-night. The vocal items include “ The Toilers,” “ Ora Pro Nobis,” “ The Better Land,” “ The Little Hero,” “ The Holy City,” and “ The Lost Chord.” Mr Buckingham’s concerts have proved very popular in other parts of the colony. He holds the gold medal as winner of first prize for baritone singing at the contest at Dunedin Exhibition. Yesterday the Tpins special correspondent in Auckland made’’reference to the : serious accidents on the football fields on Saturday. A Press Association wire received yesterday states :—“ At football on Saturday, Doran, of Ponsonby, received a nasty wound above the ear. Taylor, of Grafton, received a slight concussion of the brain and a crushed oollar-bone, A junior b'f collar-bone broken, ana another had a severe cut on ibp forehead. Sandall, of Newton, had his nosebroken.” Mr C. R. Neale, Government veterinary surgeon, has now entered on his duties in this district. He is to be assisted by Messrs H. Cary and Ferguson, who will be chiefly occupied in meat , inspection at the Freezing Companies, and will assist Mr Neale in dairy inspection, i Mr Neale attends to stock inspection as - regards diseased animals.
