PATUTAHI. Oui: Patutahi correspondent writes : —A pleasant ceremony took place at Patutahi on Sunday at tho close of the Sabbath school, when the children of the district presented Miss Pettorson with a teacher’s beautiful Bible in remembrance of the happy hours spent in tho Sunday school as their teacher. The superintendent expressed regret that Miss Pettorson should have to leave the district on account of
her health, and pointed out how Miss Pcttcrson had always been ready to assist in all things connected with the Sunday school. Miss Sadler then read the following address : —“ Dear Miss Petterson. — Wo, the children of the Patutahi Sunday school hero assomblod, learn with regret that you are leaving us, and as this is the last Sunday you will be in our midst, we ask you to accept a Small present in remembrance of tho happy hours wo have spent together in our Sunday school. We are indeed sorry that your health compels you to leave this district, where you have endeared yourself to each one of us by your kindness, ever ready to sacrifice your time and energy on our behalf and taking a keen interest with our superten dent in all things connected with our Sunday-school. We hope that your health may be restored by tho change you are talcing, and that at some future date you will bo spared to visit us in Patutahi, where you will ever be remembered by the children of the Patutahi Sundayschool.” Miss Stevens then presented the teacher’s Bible. Miss Petterson, in reply, said that in accepting such a bountiful present, she scarcely knew what to say to express her feelings. She had always looked forward to the hour spent in Sunday-school as the happy hour of the week.' It was always pleasant to look upon the smiling faces of the children, and she trusted that what little she had done for her Master's sake in Patutahi would help them to grow up better. She hoped they would still come to their Sunday-school regularly, and they could rely that, although she was leaving the district, she would not forget them, but as Sundays came round would remember the happy hours she had spent in the Patutahi Sunday-school. Thanking the superintendent and scholars for all their kindness, and saying she would always treasure their beautiful gift she wished them each good-bye. The child.en then sang heartily the beautiful hymn, “ Ever Remember by AVhat We Have Done.”
