FEDERATION COMMISSION. By Telegraph —Press Association. Wellington, last [night. The Federation Commission has now concluded its labors, and the members have left Wellington. At the final meeting, a vote of thanks to Colonel Pitt, for the courtesy and ability with which ho conducted the proceedings, was passed on the motion of Mr Bowen. BUILDING TRADE.
The Conciliation Board has mado its recommendations in the dispute between the building trade laborers/md employers. They are that a full week’s work consists of 45 hours, and that the minimum__rate. of pay be thirteen pence per hour. BROACHING A CARGO. Cargo broaching on the Home steamers has been very rife lately, but great difficulty has been experienced in detecting the offenders. Three firemen on the Matatua were brought before the Police Court to-day, charged with this offence, and, on being proved guilty, were each sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. PRODUCE COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
The Agricultural Department received the following cablegram from the AgentGeneral, dated 18th inst.: — Butter is at 97s ; there is only a small demand for butter. Cheeso is at 48s for white, and 44s for colored. The heijip market is firm for good fair Wellington, at £25 10s, and fair for Crescent Manila at £33 10s. Cocksfoot: There is no pressure to sell cocksfoot seed, and the market is firm. Mutton, Canterbury: The supply very heavy, and accumulating. Canterbury prime, 481 b to 561 b, is scarce at4d; 561 b to 641 b, 3 5-8 d: heavy, 3d. Dunedin and Wellington, small. B[d; heavy, 2sd; North Island, small, 3 : |d, heavy 2 5-Bd. Lamb is steady; Canterbury, 321 bto 381 b, is at s.}d: heavy, 4Jd; Australian, 44d. Beef is dull; hindquarters 3 5-Bd, forequarters 3d. DREDGING.
