AUCKLAND NEWS.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. Mr Napier, M.H.R., has written to the Government asking that tho Government Arch now being erected in connection with the Duke of York’s reception may be handed over as a gift to tho City Council, in order to form a permanent entrance to Victoria Park, Freeman’s Bay. Mr Napier, M.H.R., has received a telegram from the Governor, stating that he will do his best when in Sydney to obtain the consent of the Duke to lay the foundation stone of Admiralty House. The constable at Hohoura has tele: graphed to Inspector Cullen that a man, named John Piper, has been found dead in his whare at Waiharera. There are no particulars to hand.
