A Sad Fate.
SMOTHERED BY SMOKE.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Greymouth, laßt night.
The remains of John Howan, of Wanganui, missing since the fire, were found this afternoon. Part of his valise was alongside the body. He is supposed to have been smothered while trying to get out of the front door of Ashton’s Hotel. He had dressed, arid come down stairs. All tho other inmates got out by .the back way. He was a steady man, about 28, and had means.
