Letters from Capetown state that a fire occurred on the troopship Maplcinore, which took one of the New South Wales contingents and a large number of horses. When 1.500 miles from land in a heavy sea a lire broke out in the after hold amongst the forage. After, several hours hard fighting it was subdued. The troop.S were marshalled on deck and quietly stood at attention in readiness to assist. They behaved splendidly.
