Sydney, May 14. It is the opinion in shipping circles that the Board of Health has adopted ail oxtronic course in connection with the Ventura. Vessels from other .infected ports have been allowed to berth and discharge after being fumigated. T.io captain stated that so far as he was aware there was no plague in San Brancisco.
The President of the Board of Health states that the authorities at ’Brisco concealed and even denied the existence of plague in the city, notwithstanding the declaration of the quarantine officers to the contrary, and an answer to a cable to the British Consul had stated that plague in a sporatic form had been in existence in ’Brisco since March last year. Latest Eastern files show that there were 24 cases of plague, with 18 deaths, at Tainan, China, in the preceding week, and at Manilla the total was 37 cases, with 24 deaths.
