By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright Loudon, May 14. j Lord Kitchener reports that General Grenfell occupied Lanistriehardt, which six British and forty Boer “ surrenders ” had held for us. Fifty Boers, with ritlos, were captured. Eight Boers elsewhere wore killed, 20 wounded, and 102 captured and 24 surrendered. A machine gun, with 0400 rounds of small arms ammunition, 150 waggons, and 870 horses wore captured. THE COMMISSION. CARRINGTON’S UNFORTUNATE EXPEDITION. In tho House of Commons, in reply to questions, Lord Lansdowne stated that the Commission appointed to make an enquiry as to tho expulsion of foreigners from the Transvaal and Orange Colony would proceed lo South Africa to hear evidence. They recommend ■ that a reasonable assessment of losses of tho subjects of friendly Powers alono bo considered. Mr Brodriek said that it was unnecessary to publish the report of Lieut.-General Sir.Fredcriek Carrington’s expedition from Bcira to relieve Matching, thence to tho Transvaal. Lord Stanley announced that it was not intended to increase the forces in South Africa.
