ANOTHER CHRISTCHURCH SENSATION
WAS IT A MERMAID '! (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. A mysterious event happened on Monday evening at New Brighton, between 7 and 8. A man named Geo. Bailey was walking on the beach, and saw what looked like a mass of seaweed in the water. On getting closer he was astonished to see a woman get up nsid walk along the beach. He followed her, but lost sight of her in the darkness. A number of people made a thorough search of the beach, but found no trace of the woman except indications where she had sat in her wet clothes on a seat.
