SCHOOL MATTERS.
(To the Editor of the Times.) Sir, —Being a settler of over thirty years’ standing in Poverty Bay, I will answer Mr McGregor’s “ wbys.” AVhy did I send some of my children to the Makauri school from Makaraka ? AA’hy was I satisfied with the progress they made under Mr Bolton's tuition ? AVhy do the butter factories pay' Did fqr butter fat, and why do we only get 7d for it here ? AVhv is it lOOlbs of butter fat makes 112 to 114 lbs of butter? Why make insinuations that it is to the advantage of other schools in a pecuniary sense when we know that our teachers arc above considering suefi petty matters '? AVhy does everyone who knows them (especially our rospected teacher, Mr Marshall) consider such' effusions should not be taken notice of?—I am, etc., L. M. Mclntosh Makaraka,
