THE ROYAL VISIT.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, May 4. Traffic during the week to Melbourne has been very heavy. Tho Railway Department has had great difficulty in providing sufficient sleeping accommodation. Three special trains were run to-day, carrying tho State and Federal members of Parliament, their friends, and visitors from other colonies, including a considerable number of New Zealanders. Departing steamers are crowded.
THE MELBOURNE RECEPTION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, May 5. The Ophir anchored in Britannia Bay, off Frankstone, at noon to-day. Rain fell yestorday, but cleared later in the day. To day tho weather is cloudy but cold. Ten thousand peoplo are arriving daily. Major-General French commands tho Fedoral troops at tho function. The American cruiser Brooklyn will visit New Zealand before returning to Manila.
Mr Wraggc predicts a storm, with Portentous of Molock, which may reach here shortly. _________
