Tho census shows the population of Christchurch city to be 17,825, as compared with 16,964 in 1896, The total population for Christchurch city and suburban boroughs is 46,053, as compared with 42,158. The Federation Commissioners have travelled about SOOO miles in New Zealand and Australia. Six thousand invitation cards are being prepared for issue by the Government in connection with the receptions to the Duke and Duchess of York in the four centres.
