SERVICE MEDALS. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. As at present arranged, the presentation of medals to the South African service men will‘bc madg by the Duke of Cornwall as follows: Auckland, on the morning of June 12; Wellington, 11 a.m. on the 18th; Christchurch, nooil on the 22nd; Dunedin on the morning of the 25th. Every man who has been a member of a contingent will have a railway pass forwarded to him. RETIRED. The Scottish Metropolitan Life Assurance Society have ceased to transact business in the colony. The attorney has applied to the Public Trustee to withdraw 115000 of tho total deposit of 1115,000 lodged under the Foreign Insurance Companies Deposits Act. THE DUKE. The Duke of Cornwall has cabled to the Governor that he will lay the foundation stone of the Wellington Town Hall, but would like to be excused from attending the City Council luncheon.
