TIMBER WORKERS’ UNION.

Tho Clerk of Awards has fixed a meeting of tho Conciliation Board for May 7th at Avatapu, to enquire into a ease filed by the North Island Timber Workers’ Union. Those cited are Kauri Timber Company, Mitchelson Timber Company, New Zealand Timber Company Proprietary (Opua), Soote Brothers, Lane and Brown, National Mortgage Agency Company (Northern Pine Sawmills), Manders and Bradley, W. Asplin, James Trowenson, W. Chadwick, Smith Brothers, and Waikare Sawmilling Company. The Union asks that a minimum wage be fixed ; forty-six hours bo a week’s work, overtime pay and Holidays to bo fixed; that all wages be paid on Friday ; that provision bo made for old and incompetent men, and that boys commence at 10s per week.
