The Emperor’s Wrath.
Berlin March 23. In the lower house of the Diet to-day President von Kroecher communicated the result of his audience with Emperor William yesterday when the officers of the Keichstag and Diet expressed the indignation experienced by the members of their respective houses at the recent outrage at Bremen. His Majesty said to President von Kroecher that ho was sorely pained by the outrage because it convinced him that since the death of Emperor Wdliam I. respect for the authorities had decreased among the people, particularly among the youth. The Emperor thought that everybody without distinction should share in the blame for the present conditions. He considered that the press should be a potent instrument in upholding the authorities, and ho-was confident that the Deputies of all parties would do all in their power to see the necessary steps taken to assure the full measure of respect for the authorities. . A lively debate followed President von Kroecher’s declaration in the Diet, Herr Richter contending that such admittedly unauthentic statements of the Emperor’s words spoken without the presence of a responsible Minister were unconstitutional and had never happened before during the last thirty years. When Herr' Rithtcr began sharply criticizing the‘'Emperor's words, President von Kroecher called him to order. Herr Richter said this proved the truth of his contentions. To-night’s papers are full of references to Emperor William’s remarks.
