London, April 25. The Capo Times and other papers demand the suppression of the Afrikander Bond. They declare that the Bond's whole object is to secure non-finality of the South African settlement.
The Daily Chronicle publishes an extraordinary report to the effect that Boer agents, acting as cattlemen, inoculated horses shipped for South Africa at Now Orleans with glanders and other diseases, and the result was that one hundred died on tho voyage, and others wero destroyed on arrival at tho Cape. Private Herbert White, of Queensland, was killed at Tabakplaat. Lord Kitchener reports tho capture of 113 prisoners and a 12-poundcr Krupp. Lieut. Beatty, a Victorian, has been killed, and seven men slightly injured. Tho circumstances of the disaster are not indicated.
i A 4-7 in gun recently captured by tho Boors at Helvetia was found destroyed. Boers in ambush captured the patrol at Badfontcin, killing Major E. H. S. Twoford.
Jacobus lie Wet, Christian Do Wet’s uncle, has been sentenced to eighteen months’ imprisonment and fined A‘33o on a charge of treason at Barkley East. J. W. Sauers, brother of William Sauers, was convicted as a ringleader of a Capo rebellion, and sentenced to a year. Eight other treason prisoners were lined sums ranging from .£250 to 41500.
Colonel G. E. Benson captured in tho Tautcrburg ranges 05 Boers with a Krupp gun and a quantity of ammunition. Ben Viljeon and 500 men, with a pompom and two Maxims, have gone south along Stcclpoort Valley. They abandoned their waggons, and destroyed a 15'pounder captured in the battle of Colenso and a Krupp gun. Colonel A. P. Pultcncv has occupied Noosscnkaal, where the hmddrost and 110 burghers surrendered.

The Southland News learns on good authority that Peter Ward, of Invercargill, who has established a colonial reputation as a footballer, has boon recommended for the Distinguished Service Order for bravery in South Africa. Bard is a member of the New South Wales Bushmen’s Corps.
