Napier—Mr McVay defeated Mr Car- ! nell for the Mayoralty by 43. In the Council elections the following were returned : Messrs Lascelles, Brown, Plowman, C. H. Edwards, Swan, Spence, Smith, Cohen, Cranby, Westall, White, and McGrath. Auckland.—The Onehunga Mayoral election resulted: Sutherland 563, Mrs Yates 173. In the City election the new men are': Messrs Glover, Julian, Rosser, Garratt, and Dignan, who replace Messrs Farrell, Tudehope, Emtrican, Jamieson, and Atkin. Dunedin. —For the South Ward a recount resulted in a tie, so Mr Gourley retired in order to relieve the returning officer of having to give his casting vote. Balclutha.—D. Stewart 175, J. McNeil (retiring mayor) 136. The Mayoral contest at Fielding resulted : Godbehere (present Mayor) 275, Bagnall 255. Masterton : Pownell (present Mayor) 873, Hessey 229. Woodville : Taylor 96, Motley (present Mayor) 94. Lower Hutt: J. Stevens 243, E. P. Bunny (present Mayor) 229. Hastings.—Less than 700 votes - were recorded in the Council election at Hastings, the following being returned : Messrs Maddison, Roach, Thompson, Smith, Ebbett, Beecroft, Jones, Newbigin, and Scanned. Hawera.—At the Mayoral election Mr Major, the retiring Mayor, beat Mr Robbins by 56 votes. Wellington. Messrs Nathan, Luke, Evans, Winder, Murdoch, Smith, Devine, Godber, Izard, Tolhurst, and McLaren wore returned
