CENSUS RETURNS.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, last night. The census for Parnell Borough shoe’s a population of 450.0ver 1896. Nelson, last night. The census returns show a city population of 7166, as against 6734 in 1896. The number of dwellings is 1416, as compared with 1399 at the previous census. The returns for Richmond and Motueka Boroughs and country arc not yet available. Dunedin, last night. Green Island:—663, an increase of five. Blenheim, last night. The borough census is 3230, an increase of 211. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, April 22. Tire census shows there are 334 S more women than men in Sydney and suburbs. At last census there were 7595 more men than women. The troops of war arc largely accountable for the absence of men.
