AVONDALE RACES. NOTES FROM TRAINING TRACK. (Special to Times). Auckland, last night. In view of the Avondale meeting, an unusually large number of horses have been working at Ellerslie, where the meeting commences on Saturday. After J. Chaafe, jun., had exercised Cannongate and Lieutenant, Zealous covered a circuit of the tan, assisted by Ragabrash over tho last five furlongs, and

went in pleasing style. Laetitia was brought home by La Gloria’s sister, running the circuit- out well.

Hastings sprinted five furlongs. Tiki and Pandarus each traversed the same distance, moving well, but St Olga went with more dash than either, and Lady Avon also brushed over the same

ground in a free manner. Romantic lumped the schooling hurdles, and St Peter and St Ursula together did three-quarter .pace work on the plough. Honesty, on the grass, at nearly her best pace, registered a useful gallop. Goitsir was galloping more freely than Blue Paul at the end of a five furlong brush.

Tahckc (late Rore) and Hesper finished together over the same distance. Little Bess was better than La Polish.

Record Reign moved strongly over a circuit on the tan alone.

Winsome left six furlongs behind, having Chief Miss to bring her home. Cavalicro put in long, steady work, and La Gloria and Formula each performed light tasks.

A sound gallop over a mile on the tan was registered by The Needle and Materoa in company.

Bacchus, Wellstock, Francis, Lovejo.y, Picklock, Tresham, Tuirno, Aminta, Sly Miss, Thurlspot, and a number of others worked before breakfast.

After breakfast St. Elmo sprinted four furlongs. Balbirnic ran six furlongs nicely. Blaircarrig galloped more kindly than Peerage, and Merry Kate appeared to quite hold her own with Delia Rose, and both boat Swiftfoot.
