Colonel Pitt states that the impression of labor peoplo of Now Zealand that tho hours are longer and wages arc lower in Australia than in New Zealand is not borne out. On the whole, the labor conditions arc much the same as in New Zealand, with tho difference that here the conditions are settled voluntarily, and in New Zealand by statute law.
