FINAL COURT OF APPEAL. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. The appointment of Sir James Prendergast as New Zealand delegate to the Conference in London with 'reference to the formation of a Final Court of Appeal for the Empire, has been acknowledged by Mr Chamberlain. As soon as the delegates from other parts of the Empire are appointed, the date will be fixed for the Conference. RAILWAY MATTERS.

A number of important recommendation to the Minister were resolved upon at the annual conference of the Assistant General Manager of Railways and traffic superintendents and district traffic managers. A private conference will be held jil V/ellington during the week. MINISTERIAL VISIT.

The Board also -contribute £IOO towards the cdst of a marine display of fireworks. MAY 24. The Harbor Board lias decided to observe May 24th as a pqblj.e holiday on the wharves, SHORT OF METAL. Owing to the difficulty of procuring suitable stone close to Wellington, tho Harbor Board has decided to advertise for tenders to supply metal in Nelson and Dunedin. A great deal of stone in this district is very friable in its nature, however.
