LAND BOARDS.
EXTENDING THEIR FUNCTIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Tho Minister of Lands, in his proposed amendment to the Land Act, proposes to enlarge the functions of the Land Boards by giving them control of certain matters not now within then - jurisdiction. In order to encourage settlement, the Minister of Lands proposes remitting the rents of settlers for the first two or three years,’"according to the nature of the bush to be felled.
