The Star states that one witness will give evidence as to hearing Mrs Smith say that she had seen a fortune-teller, .who had told her that she was about to take a sea voyage, and that a man would die on board the ship. This witness also deposes to being asked by Sirs Smith wliat sort of poison strychnine was, whether it was solid or liquid, and what were its effects.

The witness will also stato that after the day when Conway was allegod to liavo been drugged at Sumner, Mrs Smith said she had given strychnine to a dog at Sumuer, and the animal had died immediately, amusing her very much by its convulsion struggles. The witness will further give evidence as to having been told by Mrs Smith that she had some pretty nuggets of gold which she would show to the witness, and which had been obtained from a claim near Dunedin.

It is known that Conway had, previous to the Suinnor affair, carried a number of gold nuggets in his pocket-book. It is probable that even one or two moro witnesses may bo sent for shortly.
