STOCK SALE.
There was a good attendance at tho stock sales held yesterday by Messrs Common, Shelton, in conjunction with Mr AVyllie. Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. report :—AA r e had about 8000 sheep, and about 70 head of cattle, mostly steers of very good quality. The cattle were in good demand, and sold freely at good prices, but sheep were dull of sale, a fair number of wethers being sold, but ewes not going off so well. For cattle three-ycaigold steers were from £5 7s 6d to £5 10s; Jwo to two and a-half year old steers were at £4 15s.
In sheep 2 and 4-tooth wethers sold at 11s 2d, and ewes from 5s to Bs. A considerable number of sheep were passed in, as they did not reach the owners’ reserves.
Tho next sale will be held on the 9th of May.
