Tolago Notes.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tolago, Monday. A scratch match was held here to-day between teams representing Tolago and Hauiti Cricket Clubs. The weather was all that could be desired. There was a time when we had no difficulty in finding a fairly strong team to represent both local teams in their test matches, but this year there seems to have been less enthusiasm manifested in cricket hero, due partly perhaps to the fact that the players for the most part live away from the immediate neighborhood, and are there-, fore not able to have regular practice, and also to some extent because no outside team has visited us this season to fan the flame as it were. The usual annual match with Gisborne had to be abandoned at tho eleventh hour owing to bad weather, and so the season has passed without a match (this one excepted). A dance was held in the evening, at which there was a large attendance, dancing being kept up to a late hour. Mr C. B. Smith acted as M.C., and excellent music was supplied by Messrs Lockwood and Bangi (accordeon), the extras being played by Misses Broadbent and B. Spence (piano).
