AN ECCENTRIC FATHER.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, last night.
Richard Cornes, a laborer, residing at Ponsonby, has been taken to the hospital under unusual circumstances. His son was getting married, and he went to the wedding. He was noticed outside the entrance to pull a phial out of his pocket and to swallow the contents, supposed to be laudanum. Dr McKollar attended the man. Cornes is progressing favorably, and is believed to be out of danger. He is over 60 years of age, and had been peculiar for some time past.
